Uni-Y Freshman Orientation

Been busy with this and Bible school for months, and more so the past few weeks that I don't even have time to blog.

I think I've learnt alot through just planning for this orientation. Starting from scratch to putting it all to what it is now. I pray everything goes fine, and I'll probably talk about it another time. Now it's 11, and tmr I'm gonna have part in a conflict of the Kingdom of heaven against the kingdom of darkness.. woot.

Today Gershon told us he met Elim Chew at an SMU meeting with alot of the top industry leaders, and the minister of transport.

Elim Chew still remembers our Emerge Youth Conference project! And she went around telling the industry leaders about our project. She also mentioned she wanted to take us to a social innovation center forum or something.. Ha..

All of us stress.. Gershon said he really didn't want to do the business, same with me and Charis because all of us have so much on our hands, especially Gershon. Heh.. Oh well, we must quickly disappear from the face of the earth.. Hahaha..

But seriously it's a good opportunity, I think it's a good time to get closer to Elim Chew and really learn from her as much as we can before we go out into the business world. Well, depends on my two team members bah, but if can don't do the business, can really think about going with her for the forum. Ha..

This Week in Bible School

This week was an amazing week in Bible school. We moved powerfully in the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Indeed, I had my first experience with using the gifts on Tuesday. Pastor asked everyone to move in the gift of the word of knowledge and prophecy. Basically this means to ask a word from God for the person you are praying for, so that God can speak and encourage the person through you. He asked us to find someone whom we totally never spoken to before. I turned around to this guy whom I saw in SOT but totally never talk to before..

Pastor then asked us to pray for the person and ask God for a word the person I was praying for.. So I did... So when I started praying and asking God for a word, this vision of a lady flashed past me, and then a Bible verse came to me " Death and life are in the power of the tongue.." ..

So I spoke to him telling him that there may be relationship that has been broken because of some words that he had said, and that God wants to restore this relationship...

And what's cool is that, later i checked with him after I was done.. and because I wasn't sure if the vision was from God so when I spoke to him I said 'person', so I asked him if it was a lady, he said yes!.. Haha, he said he had a broken trust issue with his cell group leader..

Haha I was so estatic after that.. I realized that its not about what I can do, but exercising the gift of prophecy and word of knowledge really is just waiting on God. All I have to do is to pray and God will give me the word! But one thing I learnt is that it's very easy to doubt.. all my fellow classmates who done, their first response to an impression by God is a," Huh, cannot be la..."

I also have another friend who shared with me someone prophesied over her and said that she will be going into business and fashion industry... and this friend of mine said she had totally no desire of doing that, so she just left it aside. until on the way home, she was being fetched by her dad and her dad asked her if she considered doing business.. probably in the fashion industry...

She said her jaw just dropped. Haha... She shared that it's so amazing, cos her dad never talks to her about this kinda stuff until that day... I told her to go find about the fashion industry, cos if God says it twice, then she better go look into it.. Haha...

Alot of people like to reduce Christianity to moral philosophies and ideals, which is something that people can digest. But the truth is, the Christian faith is a supernatural faith, and the whole hope of the Christian faith is based on the supernatural resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

As Paul in the Bible says,"For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power."

And Jesus says signs and wonders will follow those who believe. Our faith is a supernatural accompanied by supernatural signs and wonders. If we take the supernatural from the Bible, we are left with a book which doesn't make sense at all.

The galaxy of stars at Emerge

My friends read my blog more than I blog. They can tell me that there's spam on the tagbox before i even know it. Heh.

The church website just put up the photos of Emerge. I'll just blog about the artistes that came down to our youth conference in early June.

Here's Liu Geng Hong, I think he needs no introduction. But did you know, He's a cell group leader, and he's a v zai basketball player? He was playing against the church members earlier in the day before he performed.. He's a really fervent Christian and a role model for alot of us to follow =)

Here's Tank. I actually didn't know who he was until I got home and asked my brother. lol. But turns out he's pretty famous ya. There was one thing he said that really touched me. He said,"There's one thing I always wanted to say on stage since a v long time ago.... Hallelujah!!". Wow. Amen to that. Haha. (Hallelujuah means Praise the Lord in Hebrew)

Oh, Fei-Er from FIR came too, but don't have her picture. Pst says she's too expensive to perform. Manager dun allow free performance. Haha...

I wanna blog about what's been going on with my Bible School but now I'm so bogged down with Uni-Y freshmen orientation camp and Bible school as well. As Bobby said just now during the prayer meeting, " I'll see you guys in less than 12 hours!" .. zzz. Ha..

A joke

Dr Peter Wagner shared a joke during service on Sunday. He's not a very dynamic speaker, but a very good Bible teacher. He shared this joke before his sermon:

Unlike the English language, the Spanish language gives items either masculine or feminine connotations. For example, the house is female in Spanish and the pencil is male.

A puzzled student asked the Spanish teacher, what gender should the computer be?

The teacher checked the dictionary and realized that there was no such word for computer in Spanish. As such, she split the class into two, guy and girl, to discuss and decide which gender should be the computer, and give 4 reasons why.

The guys decided that the computer should be female. Based on 4 reasons:

1. Nobody but their creator understands their internal logic!

2. When two computers pass information, no one else understands what they're communicating to one another!

3. Even the smallest mistakes you make are stored in the long-term memory!

4. When you make a commitment to one, you spend half your paycheck buying accessories for it!

Now the girls decided that the computer should be male based on four reasons as well:

1. To get their attention, you gotta turn them on!

2. They got alot of data but they're clueless!

3. You buy them to solve your problems, but half the time, they are the problem!

4. When you make a commitment to one, you realized that you could have waited a little longer to get a better model!

Haa....

The girls won.
